"Excellent value for money and great location. Staff very friendly and pub downstairs is nice. Room is well equipped with a lovely bathroom and shower, and nice big bath towels. Room comfortable. A little warm as windows don't open."
"Loved welcome to the hotel. Room was nice and the bed was very comfy. The views and grounds were beautiful. Breakfast there was plenty to choose from."
"Nice and cosy stay with good food in the restaurant and friendly staff. The rooms were clean, well appointed and had comfy beds for a good night sleep. What more would you need?"
"We were made very welcome, the hosts were very friendly. The room was clean and very comfortable. Very comfortable bed.
There was a good choice of food for breakfast and was good. We would visit there again"
"Lovely historic hotel in Lynmouth right by the water. Be aware that check-in ends at 10pm and front doors lock at 11pm, but staff are friendly and helpful if you need any accomodation around that. We called and were given instructions on how to get our keys on arrival after 10pm. As for our stay, the hotel was comfortable, quiet and lovely. The breakfast options were quite nice as well. "
"A lovely property with stunning clifftop views. We had a spacious bedroom with an unbelievable view of Lynmouth and the sea. Breakfast was included and lots of choice. "
"Nice country pub room was clean and comfortable with ensuite.
Staff are great and the pub has a nice relaxed feel with a bar area used by the locals (Friendly) with everything you want from a country pub.
Restaurant area separate from the pub with a good varied menu.the food I had was great and good value for money.
I will definitely stay here again if I am in the area."
"For the price this place is excellent. You are paying the price of a hostel but you have your own room, a decent bathroom and tea making facilities. The hotel has seen better days, and if you want something swanky pay another £100 per night.
Staff were helpful, room was clean, and location is spot on. "
"I have not stayed here for years and was surprised to see that its still a Brend Hotel ( family hotel).
I went for breakfast and it was a traditional waiter service breakfast eg you are shown to a table, another waiter takes your order, you choose the items you want and its freshly cooked ( no food sitting under a heated light)"
"I found The Royal & Fortescue to be a lovely comfortable place to stay in the centre of Barnstaple very close to all amenities including the bus station which was so handy for getting to other near by attractions. The hotel is very clean and welcoming. We had a really nice relaxing stay and if in Barnstaple again would be more than happy to stay again."
"Absolutely brilliant. Delighted with pod's cleaniness and style, great night sleep, amazing views.
Food was excellent with great choice and extremely good value."
"Decent accommodation in a beautiful village on Exmoor. The bed was comfortable and the full English breakfast very good as well. I had no problem parking just outside on the street. I liked the feeling of staying in a family-run hotel and they were all friendly and helpful. Would return!"
"Massively exceeded all expectations.
Excellent quality accommodation, right on the beach with facilities far above the standard expected at this sort of resort.
Very impressed"
