"Visited for a short holiday and to visit family. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Room was fine. We usually stayed in premier inn at Exmouth and tried this hotel for a change. Not much difference except we had a balcony, staff were nicer and more helpful and was cheaper to stay and park. Would definitely stay again. The hotel is pet friendly so there were some people staying with their dogs. We didn’t mind."

"Really lovely hotel with great views. Breakfast a real treat. Rooms are a very generous size and a sea view is beautiful. Don’t like the policy of authorising £150 on your bank card on check in. Not released for 5 to 10 days is not acceptable."

"Short and sweet: you get what you pay for. Windows wouldn’t open had to put a wedge in so it would, curtains stained with unknown substance. Pillowes we had on our bed was sofa cushions. Bathroom tiles was coming up. My daughters window by her bed would have been easy for anyone to open from outside luckily was was on 3rd floor. "

"Thank you for a wonderful 2 day stay at The Mercure Hotel in Paignton, Devon. My husband and i stayed in a Classic Double room with a lovely big shower, they also provided towels, hair shampoo, shower gel all organic and great quality along with the hand soap. Our bed was amazing very comfortable, also great blackout curtains too. The windows don’t open in the room but the good news is you have great air con and heating at your fingertips. The Tv was 52” and fabulous with free view channels too. Hotel has 2 lifts and a fabulous outdoor balcony area. What i loved was in the evening while having a drink outside the waiter approached us (and every other table) to hand out lovely warm fleeces to wrap around you if feeling a bit chilly as our hotel wasn’t far across from the beach. I thought this was so lovely of them to do this. We did book for dinner on our first night (booking is advised), not a very extensive menu to choose from but quality was good, a little pricey on some dishes and noticed the same menu the next night. Plenty of places to eat near by but if you didn’t want to go out the hotel then you have options. Breakfast in the morning was nice you had your continental first, then your hot buffet stuff, sausages, bacon scrambled eggs ect… but a word of warning as we didn’t find this out until I’d plated up the hot food but if you wanted your eggs a different way like poached, fried ect you need to order them separately at the bar first. Staff all fabulous. Thanks again"

"Very good location. All reception and bar staff really helpful. Room changed instantly when I discovered A Con not working. Bar staff went above and beyond to be helpful. Room v good comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. My second visit at this hotel will use it again."

"Hotel staff were extremely personable and friendly. Restaurant was excellent, good food, always hot and reasonably priced. Nice bar and restaurant area. Rooms nice and well equipped, no air con but rooms have fans. "

"We cannot fault the service staff food and the location excellent it's just the overall finish needs some renovation to the outside finish,it's a bit tired but all that aside we enjoyed our stay staff were all very polite and helpful great. "

"First time away with my partner on holiday for one night, the rooms were wonderful, nice spacious area and comfy beds. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Just wished the check in was before 3pm but overall wonderful hotel to stay in for a night away or two. Definitely coming back again. "

"It took 40 years but I finally made it to university!😂 The room was a standard dorm room with basic facilities. And a wonderful view from the 13th floor. And as it was after the end of the term it was very quiet and empty. All you can eat breakfast included, so a great start to the day. "

"The staff at the hotel were a joy, nothing was too much trouble and always professional with a smile. I only had breakfast 1 morning but there was a good choice and service with a smile. The beds at the hotel were comfortable and towels plentiful and thick. "

"Breakfast was excellent. Bar meal was good but not great selection. Main Restaurant was too expensive. The room was great, very comfortable. the Seaview was obscured bey vegetation, but after some discussion, the gardener cut the offending vegetation back which mad the view perfect."

"The moment we arrived, we were overwhelmed with the outstanding beauty of the countryside and with the quality of the hotel which was also very spacious. We felt very pampered by the facilities provided. Maria in charge of the breakfast showed unprecedented professionalism and was very welcoming. I would have liked to have seen a few seats scattered around outside, other than just by the clubhouse. Nevertheless we will definitely be back. Thank you to all the staff."
