Ollantaytambo is home to the Sacred Valley with impressive Inka ruins of its own. There are also several day hikes in the area including to the amazing Sun Gate which is a very rigorous hike. We preferred stayig here over Aguas Calientes.

The ruins were our first Inca ruins. Definitely take a guide if someone approaches you. There are ruins on both sides of town. If you are in good shape be sure to do both. Easy access to Machu Picchu on both Peru and Inka Railways

Very charming town. Was fun to explore the cobblestone streets to find hidden gem restaurants and cafes. Nestled among Incan ruins and beautiful views of the river and mountains.

The Inca ruins are remarkable, the newer part of town no so much. People are extremely nice.

Great stopover to see the Ollantaytambo fortress ruins and eat some delicious food!
"This property is tucked away in the cobblestone streets an easy 5 minute walk to the plaza. The two twin room was nice and there was hot-ish water and a hair dryer. The patio had the most wonderful view. We didn’t get to eat breakfast since we had an early tour. I appreciated that they had both purified and boiled water and a lot of it for guests so we could fill our water bottles before our trek. The only thing was our 3rd floor room, although quiet, was quite cold. Colder than the temperature outside! We weren’t offered a heater but didn’t ask for one either. All in all I would stay here again "
"We loved our stay at Andenes Del Inca! Walter was very helpful and welcoming. We were able to store our luggage there as we went to Machu Picchu. The property is quiet and clean, and in a convenient location to explore Ollantaytambo and the surrounding ruins. I would highly recommend staying here, especially for the price and for Walter’s hospitality!"
"The property is a stunning place located approximately ten minutes from downtown, with convenient access provided by the hotel's complimentary shuttle service. During our stay, we traveled with a group of seven, including four children. Each morning began wonderfully with the complimentary breakfast served in the aesthetically pleasing restaurant and surrounding area. Staff was very friendly and helpful. "
"Staying at Stardome was a truly unforgettable experience. The property is absolutely stunning—surrounded by nature and designed with so much love. At night, the sky was crystal clear, and we spent hours stargazing in awe. Our room was cozy, unique, and beautifully integrated into the natural surroundings.
One of the highlights was their little farm—it added such charm to our stay. The alpacas were so beautiful and gentle, and we completely fell in love with the white bunny. It was peaceful, grounding, and felt like a dream.
The manager welcomed us with warmth and treated us like family from the moment we arrived. Every detail—from the breathtaking views to the soulful energy of the place—made us feel at home. We’re so grateful for this magical experience. Highly recommend!"
"Parwa Guest House in Ollantaytambo was a very nice place to stay. they held our luggage for three days as we went to Machu Picchu. They recommended an excellent restaurant in Ollantaytambo town square where we ate after dropping off our luggage. We ate there again when we returned. Parwa Guest House serves a delicious breakfast starting with a very nice fruit bowl. It had a bed and breakfast feel to it. Jorge and his wife are so friendly, and they helped us with other questions we had before our trip started. I would definitely stay here again. "
