Dunedin was relatively quiet when we were there and the octagon (city center shopping area) had lots of construction going on but we found the city to be cute with plenty of sites to see including some amazing botanic gardens with a bird reserve.

Always be prepared for the cold in Dunedin. It is an old small city with narrow windy hill streets and old dwellings. But it is also has an air of culture. The museums etc are great.

"It was very convenient to al of the shops and services. Staff were very helpful. The hotel facilities like bar and restaurant looked great but not well patronised so we had to go to local restaurant for food.

"Wonderful accommodation for the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children) and prime location very close to St Kilda’s and St Clair’s beaches. Excellent everything :)"
"I loved my upstairs room with a view. Clean, spacious, tidy and the bed was so comfy. The best thing about this hotel is that it is pet friendly and I have two indoor-only, well-trained cats. Unfortunately, I had some young and unruly partying guests late at night in the room next door, however, the hotel management sorted them out immediately upon notification and peace was restored. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be close to a convenient main road, and within walking distance of the Botanic Gardens, university, museum, shops cafes, restaurants and the main street of town. I strolled safely up to the scenic Octagon at night for a lovely dinner - lots of options."
