"Fantastic experience of traditional Japanese lifestyle. It was the best service I've ever received during my many visits to Japan. The room tour was amazing, the food was delicious, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. A bonus was the excellent Club Lounge!"

"Good value for the money. In a relatively quiet part of town. There was only one night staff when we checked in but she was extremely helpful and cheerful.
Recommended if you are passing through (eg taking ferry to Kyushu)"

"The hotel was 5 minutes walk from JR train station, the breakfast was very good, a lof of food and yammy. But, the beds, chair and the room was old. The price of this hotel was reasonable."

"I got there early, left my luggage with them and they took it up to my room before I got back. So sweet of them! "

"My friend and I stayed for 1 night at Kominka Mitsuhama Ryokan in early November. We were very surprised by how much thought and effort was put into decorating this 100 year old house. It was truly an unforgettable experience staying there.
Our host was like a cherry on top of the whole experience. Even though we could only communicate in broken Japanese, he prepared English instructions for us so communication was not a problem. When we checked out, he even gave us a handwritten note and two...

"Rooms look a bit old but it does the job. The location is ideal, there is a bath open all night long! Staff is also very helpful, I encountered an issue with one of the washing machine and they fixed it quickly."

"The Japanese style room is spacious, we enjoy it very much. The onsen is comfortable for not being crowded, with hot and cold one, too. There are car parks which are next to the hotel, one is even a few steps away only, with enough parking space. "

"The staff were so lovely and the hotel had lots of little nice touches that made it a pleasure to stay at. Dogo onsen was next door and the hotel provided towels and yukata to take. The room was quiet and peaceful. I didn’t dine at the hotel but enjoyed the free sake bar and there were lots of options for food nearby. "
"This is an excellent hotel a five minute walk from the JR Matsuyama City station. The hotel rooms were clean and air-conditioned and the amenities were good.
I would specially commend this hotel for the excellent breakfast spread. It's very much a Japanese breakfast, but the variety was amazing. I would stay at this hotel again just for the breakfast."
"I’m posting this or my son who just stayed there. He said that he almost hesitated because of some of the bad reviews, but after staying there, he didn’t understand why they would have left them. He said it’s a very traditional Japanese place to stay which he appreciated. He is not in Japan to stay in American style hotels. Also, the price cannot be beat. He said he would absolutely stay there again and really appreciated everything about the place."
"도고온천의 호텔과 료칸의 중간정도 형태로 다다미방과 노천을 이용할 수 있는 메리트가 가격 대비 훌륭한 곳이라고 생각합니다. 위치 자체도 도고온천 본관 바로 뒷쪽으로 상점가와 아주 가깝고, 다만 주변에 별로 할 것이 없다는게 단점입니다. 전반적으로 만족도는 높았습니다."
"The Japanese style room is as close to a ryokan stay as you can get. Try the Japanese breakfast - both the Japanese and western breakfast was plentiful, nutritious and tasty. Staff service, friendliness and attentiveness was impeccable. We truly enjoyed our stay. Around the corner to the Dogo Onsen (historic onsen that recently
reopened) although we didn’t visit, seeing the building (at night) is impressive. We can to visit the shrines and do a tiny Henro - this is walkable to the Ishitige Shrine and others close by. Wonderful stay - and getting a room with the in room onsen was very a nice indulgence. "
"This stay was everything I wanted from an onsen hotel - the convenience of having your own bath, half board meals in the room. この度は温泉と料理と人(特に大野さんには感謝です)、全部癒されました!"
"Upon arrival the staff kindly informed us of our forwarded luggage from the previous hotel. Which was already placed in our room. Upon entry we noticed 1 piece of luggage was missing. I want to thank the staff of Dogo Yaya for their hard work in getting the luggage to our hotel within 24 hours of arrival. Service was amazing.
The onsen facilities around the hotel were good and the hotel provided the necessary clothes and towels.
The breakfast buffet had a large variety of foods which we enjoyed a lot.
I highly recommend the hotel if you're staying in Matsuyama. Next time I will consider booking a night extra, 1 day was too short. "
"The building was somewhat outdated, but it was well-maintained and clean. Most importantly, the service was excellent. When I originally reserved two rooms for my family, they were on the separate floors. However, during check-in, the staff updated one of rooms from a single to a queen-size bed, allowing us to stay on the same floor at no extra changes."
"Thoroughly enjoyable stay in a renovated commercial property dating back to at least the first half of1900's, if not earlier. The rooms were very tastefully decorated, which gives it a distinctive Japanese feel, but with all modern amenities. The morning breakfast made from local, seasonal ingredients was del8cious and a great experience in itself. The staff were very friendly and dedicated, and the service was outstanding. All in all, a pleasant time. Wish I could have stayed longer. "
"Trams running from across the street all day and night. Walking distance to the Castle. Shopping Mall just around the corner. Bars and clubs 2 minutes walk around from the hotel. Beautiful Japanese breakfast every morning included. Room and facility was so clean. Towels changed daily. "
"Great care is taken by staff to welcome, offer information and special amenities. I love the local and artisanal products offered for sale in the lobby. They have the best juice!"
"Its a bit far from the station, so the location is not convenient. This hotel is not the typical APA hotel. Its purchased from previous ower. The rooms are not the usual APA standard. "
