Room itself is well appointed and service was good. But two main drawbacks were that the gym is terrible (has only few cardio machines and a chest machine) and the door to the rooms allows ALL hallway noise to be heard in the room. There were lots of screaming children during my stay and it seems like you can hear even muffled conversations. So very disruptive for sleeping.

This is a fantastic hotel with a great location. The staff were very attentive and helpful. We had a nightcap at the bar. The prices were very reasonable and my gin & tonic was the perfect balance as I do not like a strong gin taste! The room was great, the bed was very comfortable and the TV screen was a decent size - not the usual toy size! Breakfast was excellent - great variety in the buffet to match the 3 choices of a main. We were very happy with the Eggs Benedict, but could have had a very attractive-looking French Toast or Croque Monsieur, which is an exclusive original dish for this hotel according to the website. As good as all the food was, the honey from the real honey comb was the absolute highlight! I had an unfortunate situation during check in when the young man asked for my passport, which is unnecessary due to my permanent residence status, then he asked for my ID so he could know how to spell my name to find my reservation. Really? I expected more from a hotel of this standard. We were surprised by how clearly we could hear through the window the trains passing below. However, that did in now way detract from a very pleasant stay. It's fun to occasionally pretend to be tourists in one's own city. I would recommend the Gate Hotel Tokyo by Hulic to everyone - single traveller, couples, families and for pleasure or business.
