The hotel is new & well-constructed & clean. However, the rooms are very cramped -- it seems like a hotel you'd find in a big city where land is at a premium. Also, the standard rooms have really no ventilation; two tiny transom-type windows open onto the hallway. If you leave the windows open, you'll probably be awakened by noise echoing from the kitchen or lobby; it's all hard surfaces, so noise travels. So overall, the room was pretty claustrophobic. The bathroom is about a foot from the bed, and has translucent door panels, which seems to be popular these days in newer Colombian hotels, but seems weird to me.
The area is a bit sketchy, though it's just a block above la Plaza de la Independencia (also kind of sketchy, but full of bars etc). The hotel entry doors are translucent glass; you ring a buzzer and wait. Not very welcoming. The lobby is strangely spacious, considering how cramped the rooms are.
