Pleasant and helpful staff. Easy check in. Comfortable room. Good breakfast.

It was very poor, an old tired hotel. Noisy.

One night stay with the children.

The room was very big. And the beds were comfortable. But all in all the property is dated and needs work to get it back to its true beauty. However the staff were very friendly. And please note! The swimming pool is out of action! And will be for at least 6 or so months! (My calculation)
Martyna, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

A beautiful old hotel that is full of character, very helpful staff and a gorgeous full English breakfast
DAVID, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Avoid.

Undoubtedly my worst ever hotel experience. The pool advertised was not working. The place looked tired. But ultimately the room shower was blocked and water was around my ankles which was disgusting. I had to leave the property after 30 minutes and find another place to stay. The receptionist Sue was helpful but couldn’t do anything as no maintenance at night.

Old building with lots of character , beautiful, amazing staff, beautiful food, highly recommend

8/10 Very good

The staff were lovely, wish we'd known beforehand that the pool was closed for repairs, as was looking forward to swimming. Close to local amenities if you drive. Plenty to to in the local area
Jennifer, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

In need of some tlc but adequate

The bed was clean, warm and comfy, the towels were clean. The breakfast was lovely. I had a single room which was ok for a one night stay. The hosts were lovely and welcoming, but the room I had was in desperate need of some tlc, there were stains on the carpet, the wallpaper was peeling in several places, there was no way to open the windows which were filthy and covered in cobwebs. The door on the shower came off its frame, the arms on the chair were coming loose, if there was an extractor fan in the bathroom then it didn't work.

Garry, 2-night trip

Organisation was poor, approach of the staff was wholehearted, but not at all professional. The room was very hot - the radiator broken full-on, only one ceiling light worked, no bedside lamp, tiny TV. This is a hotel with potential that needs some love, and staff that need support.
Simon, 1-night trip

2/10 Poor

Freezing.

Boiler was broken, no heating.

Old victorian house with some nice wooden panels Cooked Breakfast in the poets room

2/10 Poor

Bad bad bad

Terrible bed, two singles pushed together with a gap. Cold room, electric heater dangerous and smelly.
Rob, 1-night trip

Rooms need drastically updating, mould around the sink and shower. Breakfast was a joke, freezing cold room to eat in, very limited selection of drinks. I was surprised not to see Manuel from Faulty towers there.

Birthday break

This was a weekend away for the wife's birthday, it was very convenient for day trips, also very good for local places to eat and drink,.

Fieldways - One night stay

Check in was easy & all staff were extremely friendly & helpful . No doubt in it's day , this was an amazing very high end luxury home but is currently in need of a little TLC . The breakfast & dining room need to be seen to be really appreciated & made up for the tired bedroom which I did sleep ok in . Breakfast was cooked to order & was very good . No evening meals but the Codfather fish & chip restaurant is just a few minutes away in town was also really good with great staff .

Lovely location and building. George greeted us and was a treasure. Breakfast was lovely if a tad manic... stressed staff... all in all great stay
paul, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Worthwhile

Lovely hotel does need a little tlc but that didn’t really deter my stay, service was lovely and breakfast was freshly cooked like the old radio style in the breakfast room

Tired!

This period hotel needs bringing up to date It is tired! In saying this the servants was good and the breakfast was very good.
David, 1-night trip

Beautiful property. Loved the character of the old mansion and the decor within the home. Check in was pleasant and easy. The TV channel selection was good compared to other places in our travels, which helps with children. Rooms were clean, however there was no soap provided to wash your hands in the room, which was inconvenient. We didn’t have a great sleep as the beds are quite hard, and the pillow cases had a damp towel unfresh scent that was my biggest complaint. Other than that, it was good for the price point and fine for one night.
Alexandra, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Pleasant staff, room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was lovely. Bathroom could do with a little updating and the lock on the window in my room was broken but overall it was very comfortable and well worth the money. I will definitely be staying again.
