Nice stay in Deerwood

It could definitely use some updates. But it was a good place to stay and staff was friendly and helpful. And we would definitely stay here again. For food nearby, Coach’s was excellent, and just a short walk away.

We were in town for a family reunion.The room was comfortable, bed was good not too soft or hard. Continental breakfast could have been better. The pancake machine didn't work. All that was available was donuts, toast, yogurt and cereal and coffee. Would like to have seen some oatmeal packets, tea bags and maybe hard boiled eggs. The pool was also closed for maintenance.

Avoid if possible

The rooms were not very clean. The toilet didn't work in one of our rooms, there was no toilet paper or kleenex so we had to ask for that for both rooms. The front staff said they were overworked and the had to work doubles since other staff didn't show up. Overall not very impressed with the management of the hotel.

The hotel could really use an update. Our bathroom sink was about 50% clogged, which should have been obvious to the maids when cleaning the sink. The breakfast offerings are the cheapest possible while still being able to be called a breakfast. This hotel felt more like a $60 per night inn than a $120 plus dollar inn.

Awful

The room I was in hasn't been updated in probably over 20 years. It smelled like cigarette smoke and there was yellow gunk on the walls in the bathroom. There was black mold growing on the ceiling above the shower. The shower was still wet from before. The towels didn't feel clean. The room felt humid.

Great location for us, but needs attention!

When we checked in, we were given a room key and when we got into the room, we found there were already people occupying that room. Went back to the desk and the clerk gave us another room which had been cleaned and was unoccupied. The pool and hot tub were "out of order". The room had not been cleaned well. There were crumbs on surfaces and floor. The breakfast was virtually nonexistent. A few tiny powdered sugar donuts, a few pieces of bread to make toast, a few yogurt cups in the refrigerator, and some cold cereal and milk. There was fresh coffee, though!

I made the reservation about a month before for a room with two Queen beds. I called AND texted them that it needed to be on first floor as one of us was disabled and can’t do stairs. They didn’t have a room when we got there. We took a king size bed at the end of the hall. Too far for her to walk. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut, the toilet was wobbly and we couldn’t get the door opened to our room from the inside. Had to have front desk come and open our room so we could get out. Shower curtain was moldy. I’ve stayed here before. Wasn’t happy this time.

There were lights not working or outlets, holes in the walls and granola between the sheets. Tub was dirty and corners not clean. The TV did not work, and figuring out their tub to get water was difficult. Pillow had blood on the pillowcase. Had to get own pillow and blanket to sleep. Staff refused to correct and blamed someone else.

I’d give the Deerwood Country Inn a hard pass.

I asked for clean sheets upon arrival and remade the beds myself - the beds are old and stained. I had to ask for a mattress pad cover otherwise the sheets were right on top of the mattress. The toilet had not been cleaned in weeks and the floor in the bathroom was filthy. There was hair on the walls of the shower. The non smoking room smelled of smoke. The hair dryer did not work. The grab bar in the tub was broken. The hot tub (although after the shape of the room we didn’t trust the pool much less the broken hot tub) was under repair. The people working there were helpful and kind.
