Great central Bath location and one of the best hotel spas I've visited in the UK. Not many are fed by hot spring water! If you're not planning on using the spa it's probably not worth the price, but I would certainly come here again for a special occasion.

Perfect stay in Bath

We stayed at the Gainsborough after walking the entirety of the Cotswold Way. It was the perfect ending place. Luxurious accommodations, outstanding service staff, delicious dinner, and the spa experience made it a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable stay. The location is also fantastic being close to the Abbey but not in the high traffic area. Highly recommend!

Disapointed!

Had looked forward to staying at the hotel but the experience was not great. The whole atmosphere is one of pushing sales and very little service approach! Did not respond to messages through the hotel.com portal - finally had to call them - very not helpful unless it ment xtra charges. Also the spa is only open 8-10 morning or 7-9 evening otherwise it costs 100 punds xtra per day/head! this it not clear on the web.

Beautiful Spa Hotel, Centrally Located in Bath

The Gainsborough has a beautiful spa area and is very centrally and conveniently located in downtown Bath. The hotel stocks all rooms with soft drinks and water in the mini fridge (a nice touch), and the breakfast offerings are excellent, including both a continental buffet with a cooked to order option. The bar area of the hotel is small and was not well stocked during our visit. Also, some of the staff seemed new and unfamiliar (although polite) with the property, but the concierge as well as the front desk manager, Howard, were wonderful, and made what was a good stay into a great stay. The concierge's restaurant and tour recommendations were wonderful, and the front desk manager assisted our party of four with an issue we encountered with a rude and arrogant guest. The professionalism he demonstrated in handling the situation was commendable. We will be back.
