Great staff but disappointing facilities

The box spring on one of the beds was broken. Metal parts were sticking out the side and there was a blood stain. The paint is peeling in the bathroom over the shower and there was paint missing in the main room. The staff was nice but they were stretched thin. It was clean enough. The valet we'll call "grumpy Santa" was not super friendly.

Misleading photos-needs more maintenance

The pictures were amazingly misleading. The rooms seemed empty, and the condition was awful. Desk is broken, the door didn’t close, the toilet paper holder was broken, and the TV didn’t work until the second day. In the positive side, the workers there were great, very helpful, very understanding, and wonderfully friendly. But this hotel is obviously understaffed, especially on the maintenance side.

Good value with some caveats

Stayed here for the week of July 4 2025. The good: close to CMU/UPitt, walking distance to good restaurants and Target, large clean room, huge bathroom. The not-so-good: only valet parking, street parking during the weekdays works fine but impossible on the weekends, hotel is on a very dilapidated block and on the border between a homeless neighborhood and an upscale neighborhood, expensive breakfast with little selection and poor service, series of weird room issues- bed frame issues, curtain issues, TV issues, door sticking issues, missing wall pictures, wonky shower controls, etc. Our general impression was that it was a hotel trying to look upscale but reluctant to invest in staff and maintenance. For a hotel close to CMU it is probably the best price, but you will get a very eclectic experience.
