upper floor of a pub, but not too noisy, room is big, a bit worn down, a lot of black mold in the bathroom, breakfast is from 9 to 10, but they accommodated my request for having it at 8/8.30

The staff were amazing! Even though the building was old, I didn't mind as it felt authentic and provided a nice town experience. Everything was great, and the staff were very polite. The breakfast was excellent, and there was a fantastic live music experience!

Good stay overall

Overall, a good stay, the property being within easy walking distance from the train station and the city centre. However, the mattress on the bed was probably quite old as it sank in the middle. We slept ok but it may not be too comfortable for heavy set people.

White Horse Bootham

A nice break away for a few days in York. The hotel is very central right next to Bootham Bar. Room large, cleans and staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and large portions. The only problem was no parking on site and having to park at a nearby carpark cost £34 per day !!

This hotel is in a perfect spot just out of York as to be quiet but close enough to walk into York. It has a relaxed friendly feel with it and nothing is to much trouble for the staff, I would not hesitate to recommend it and will definitely stay there again when we next ho to York.

Perfect Location

Friendly, attentive Staff. Room & en-suite were nice and clean. Breakfast is lovely. Fantastic location. There's parking just across from the Hotel, and at the Train Station (about a 10 min walk).

Great atmosphere staff are so helpful. The cleaning is top notch our room was spotless!!Good quantity products made the breakfast it was so tasty and piping hot!! Definitely recommend this lovely little pub with its coal fire so cosy and friendly!

No lift.. 3 flights of stairs… restaurant /pub was closed due to change in tenant. Local parking was 38 pound per day! and extremely noisy outside until well after midnight and started again at 6 am due to traffic.

City Centre Pub

Basic room. No information in the room. Wi-Fi works but is only 15 Mbps. Staff very nice. Breakfast between 9 and 10am. Not bad for the city centre. We didn’t notice any adverse noise quite peaceful really.

Nice size room. Nice to have a proper bath as well as a shower in the bathroom. Staff very helpful. Excellent location in the centre of York. Not suitable for disabled access to the bedrooms as there is no lift. Bed springs were a bit wonky.

Great value, great location!

The rooms are above a pub, in a convenient location. They are alongside the York art gallery and a very short walk to the Minster. There are a number of pubs and restaurants within a short walk as you would expect. The White Horse is only around 10 minutes walk from the station on well lit busy streets. I arrived at the hotel about an hour before official check-in time, but the staff were very friendly and managed to get my room ready early while I settled down with an excellent pint (good choice of beers and hand-pulls). Food was also available, but I didn't try any. However, if it is as the good as the breakfast next day, then there should not be any complaints. The room was at the top of a flight of stairs, so be careful if you have very heavy bags. However, although it was a little tired, it was very clean, large, comfortable and warm. There was no noticeable noise from the pub or the traffic. The tea and coffee tray was well stocked, and there was plenty of storage space in the stand alone wardrobe and a separate cupboard. Despite a gap in the window, the bathroom was very warm and there were no problems with the shower. There was even a bath! Breakfast next morning was excellent, with cereals to start and a choice of simple cooked breakfasts to follow. I chose the large, but despite cancelling the toast and baked beans, it still kept me going until the evening. I will consider staying again the next time that I am in York, as the experience was excellent value

Nightmare!

The room was a disgrace! Head boards were all scratched & tattered & old. No mattress protectors no top sheet. Bottom sheet didn’t fit the mattress. They were old flannelette sheets & Dovet cover. Towels were old & tatie. Blinds were broken. Has to stand on bed to pull light switch on. Room was freezing cold. Just a little electric radiator. Decor was old wood chip red wallpaper. It was disgusting! And depressing. Had to climb 3 flights of steep stairs with cases as well. Breakfast was un edible. The guy that cooked it, was wearing dirty clothes when he brought it out to us. Then was cleaning the rooms with the same clothes he had cooked breakfast in.
