10/10 Exceptional

Beautiful historic hotel in a great location.
Cathy, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

The rooms are in need of TLC. Our room was so hot no way of turning the heating down and couldn’t open the window due to a lot of road/traffic noise. The staff were all very friendly and helpful
Deborah, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Very noisy at night, they had a wedding party and didn’t inform us. Staff did little to keep guest quiet when heading back to rooms, we had kids screaming at 1am! Would avoid if they host large parties.

Very good location to walk into Stamford. Nice old hotel with history attached. Well appointed rooms, easy parking and nice breakfast. The room was a bit on the small side for the price and the shower cubicle was smaller than we are used to but overall very nice.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful town, perfect for a romantic couples get away

10/10 Exceptional

Ample parking, lovely looking hotel. Our room was a bit on the small side, the area to access the sink was incredibly tight. My husband had to be at an angle making shaving impossible. Thankfully it was fine for one night but anymore could have been problematic.

Lovely old hotel

Very friendly staff throughout our stay. Large room, very comfortable and nice to have a large fan keeping us cool at night. Only issue was the lack of power sockets in this day and age when tech is king, but we managed. Ate at Milly's on the first evening and breakfast on both days, all very nice. Would recommend, especially as Burghley House Estate is literally at the back of the hotel and Stamford itself is a lovely town.
Dave, 2-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Extremely friendly receptionist and it’s so nice to be accompanied to your room rather than be left alone . The hotel rooms are quite quirky with antique furnishings and our room had an oriental/ Asian flavour…perhaps some artwork over the bed would have made the room more appealing. The bed and shower were great and extremely hot water so that is a bonus. We walked to visit Burghley house which is located behind the inn and is a must see. The town of Stamford is a hidden gem …I felt we were on a movie set…exquisite Georgian buildings and fantastic indie shops. Would definitely stay again…Breakfast is fab and Gluten free options

Wonderful

I love this place. I was surprised that a tap in the bath was leaky, and therefore running all the time. Otherwise flawless, friendly and really lovely

8/10 Very good

This is a nice hotel. The room was nice and clean but there were no drawers or wardrobes only some hooks to hang your clothes and it was quite small. The cooked breakfast was good but the portion size was small and you are charged extra for any coffee other than filter coffee. Considering the high price l feel it should be included and l feel the service charge on alcoholic drinks is excessive.
Meral, 1-night trip

6/10 Good

Dinner was excellent. The hotel from the outside was lovely and a very nice walk to Burghley house. Also easy to walk into Stamford. Unfortunately we had booked a classic double room. I was told that our room was classed as cosy. It was indeed and not in a nice way. There was no wardrobe. The bed faced the window and being on the ground floor afforded no privacy from bypassers on the street. You could not leave the curtains open because of lack of privacy. Also the closed room curtain got in the way of the tea and coffee facilities. All in all the worst hotel room we have stayed in for a very long time.

We really enjoyed our stay . The hotel has a lovely feel and has very attentive and friendly staff . On arrival Rachel really looked after us giving us a most delightful room which enhanced our stay further. We ate in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and the food and service were brilliant.
Philip, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

We had a lovely stay , the public areas were beautiful, however our room was disappointing as the only window was up high on the wall , which made ventilation an issue so it was extremely warm , and the room was in need of decoration . Having said that , I would definitely make a return visit as staff , food and the public areas were really lovely!

Family get together

We had an excellent overnight stay at the William Cecil as a group of 8. The staff were efficient and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our meal in the restaurant in the evening was delicious as was breakfast. There was plenty to choose from. Our bed was very comfortable and despite the noise from the busy road, we had a good night's sleep. The hotel is beautiful and in an excellent location. I would highly recommend this hotel.
