The hotel is superbly situated three minutes walk from the main entrance to the castle and the departure point for the little train that takes you round below the ramparts for great views.
We had a junior suite, which was spacious with attractive traditional decor. Breakfast was served as a set menu with minimal choice but was fresh, plentiful and tasty: good value.
The hotel has no lift and staircases are narrow and twisting staircases but staff were pleased to help with luggage. Indeed, staff were pleasant and helpful with everything.
There were nice touches like moist towels handed out on our return from a hot day out.
The only downsides to our stay were a TV remote held together by cellotape that eventually stopped working, and a great-looking spa bath that did not work for bubbles. (Apparently not included in the room specification, but no information to say that. I only found out after filling the bath, getting in, and pressing the bubbles button to no effect)
One point to note is that, while it did not affect our enjoyment of the stay, the hotel is notably smaller and the grounds less extensive than the impression given by website photos.
