Angelika. Nice professional lady on Reception. Lovely big room.

10/10 Exceptional

Great location, quiet, value for money and hotel bed/mattress was comfortable, however it was on a spant, as in the top of the bed was sloping backwards which i guess is due to the age of the place. Staff friendly, bed comfy, but slight little things like paint on curtains, low pressure shower and sloping bed, but for the money it is honestly spot on

8/10 Very good

After looking at some negative reviews we were a little apprehensive but have to say we’re very pleased, very pleasant staff, great central location, a very old quirky building and great value for money compared to other establishments in the town

After having trouble with my key card I rang and with their help they upgraded me to another room. Good service and excellent room.

2/10 Poor

No advance information that it was a hotel with no staff. Did not receive key codes in advance and had to spend ages in hold waiting to get them to enter the hotel

8/10 Very good

There were plenty of parking spaces available when we arrived after 5pm. Although we didn’t know how to enter the property, once we were in (via another guest) and saw the sign on Reception advising us to call the dedicated number. We then became aware that a Wattsapp message had been sent to my mobile phone advising us of the building entry code, our room number and the safe key code outside our room. The bedroom was on the top floor, accessible by steps and was unlocked on arrival but it was clean and tidy and reminiscent from the wallpaper and furniture of a traditional Victorian bedroom. We liked it a lot. The King size bed of our Comfort room was very good to sleep in and the bathroom had a bath which was appreciated also.
Entrance hallway
Portraits on the landing
Traditional decor (mahogany furniture and William Morris type wallpaper . (Champagne was ours)

Website states 3 to 8 reception. Received a textat 2.15 saying Today is Self check in.with room.no and a box code outside room... On arrival front reception door open no one about ..like a ghost hotel... Eventually found room 15.. 2 nd floor lots stairs...on way up 3 FIRE DOORS.ALL Wedged OPEN...A cleaners vacum cleaner and Hose left on a landing next to a Fire Door.a Trip.Hazard.. I text to them.i was not happy with.security. as anyone can just walk in the place ..was told the.front door would be locked after hours and given a code.. But no staff there just a number to ring. Terrible sevice. We.asked for a quite room.and was given one on top floor right on main road. Poor nights sleep.. The hotel was obviously not full.and had rooms at the back... The actual room was ok but not the service overall.. We went out on returning in the evening 9 ish. The Front door still unlocked..The FIRE DOOORS STILL WEDGED OPEN.VAC STILL ON LANDIND Obviousley since afteroon no.staff.about.. They had left leaving the Hotel Unsafe and the Guests.vunerable. Disgracefull.. I personally unwedged the 3 Fire doors and closed them.. Disgusted by the Hotels lack of care..

8/10 Very good

Hotel not staffed, which I was aware of from previous reviews, but it didn’t cause me any issues as I got a text with door codes etc. my room faces the back of the hotel and was very quiet and also very large. The hotel feels like it would have been very fancy and decadent back in its day, but old fashioned decor but it’s part of the charm. Tea, coffee and biscuits in the room . Free car parking on site which is great for being in the town centre All and all fine for a one night stay
