Nice place to stay. It’s a bit dated but it’s very comfortable. Great value for the money and most of all the water is hot and the HVAC works great and is very quiet.

Great place, and getting better.

It’s old, but the owners are remodeling. Very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Soft towels

Comfortable and quiet. Just what we like when traveling. Great place to base for day trip to Mesa Verde National Park. Nothing fancy but comfortable and the towels were so soft. Recommend.

The lady at the reception is so kind and helpful. The room was very clean and comfortable. The backyard of the motel is a huge terrain where you can hike and have a great view of Sleeping Ute Mountain. Thanks!

Easy check-in. Owner very accommodating, always attentive and available. Overnight stay met my needs: Not fancy, dated rooms being updated. Safe, clean, comfortable, and quiet stay, with plenty of space for my dog's needs. Would stay here again.

they are doing some renovations, not at all intrusive - new appliances. Very nice staff and conveniently located. Thank you. We would certainly stay here again.

Wasn’t glamorous, but very clean, good location on the main strip, and the owners were fantastic! Beautiful sunset from the property (owned by the motel) in back. Very close to great restaurants and the owner is a local so can make good recommendations. What motor hotels used to be … Do recommend!

Everything was great. If I made any suggestion on improvements, it would be to add a hair dryer in the bathroom. Super clean. I will say this is a cool retro vibe place with a county rustic and and vintage feel. If you are the type that needs a corporate glam place, this isn't for you. If you are looking for homey, friendly folks that care a lot about your stay, and you love the outdoors, this is it! Owners operate this establishment. They also own more land behind the motel that is a fabulous scenic hike about! Loved it all! (except the lack of a hair dryer.)

Budget Stay Here!

The outside of this Motel looks a little run down. But it’s old. It’s been here a long time! It’s family owned and operated. Very friendly & fast check in. My room was big and super clean. The bed was super comfy and the water pressure in the shower great! Nice fluffy towels, a mini fridge, microwave, sitting area, dresser, closet, and I like having the sink outside of shower area. It was quiet and by fast food, restaurants, gas stations, & Safeway. Only 14min drive to Mesa Verde NP!!

Best deal in town

I use Hotels dot com a lot to book rooms. I read the reviews, look at pictures, make a decision. The Sleeping Ute Mountain Motel in Cortez was exactly what I expected after doing such a review through the app. It’s not a fancy hotel, but it’s clean. We were traveling with two kids to visit the National Park. We needed a cheap place to stay for the night. This room had everything we needed and at a good price. I’m not sure what year this property was built, but it’s built solid so there’s no road noise or noise from adjoining rooms. The air conditioner was ice cold and the shower was nice and hot. There’s quite a few hotels in Cortez, but this motel had the best price and I was able to get a good nights sleep and visit the National Park early the following day. And to the owners, thanks for the hospitality.

Old & Very Tired with very loosely secured Door

The hotel manager is wonderful. Very caring and made every effort to make sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Bed was comfortable and clean with new sheets and bed spreads. Although she stated several future plans to upgrade this historic retro properties windows, painting interior room walls, new carpet, and an upgrade to the retro road sign; there’s a ton of other work that also needs to occur before it could ever be considered a “nice” motel by the average person. It appears they rent out rooms by the month to people that might otherwise be homeless, or are in some type of financial distress. The motel badly needs all exterior surfaces painted, new more secure motel room doors that actually have a weather door seal, new paint is needed on all interior doors, trim, ceilings and walls. Light fixtures need upgrading, all the well used furniture needs to be upgraded and with unworn surfaces. I chose this motel because of the high rating, but realized when I pulled in that the motel exterior pictures on Hotel.com were probably from 30 to 40 years ago. As well, I might have been duped by fictitious over the top complimentary reviews with a 10 out 10 rating. Really? A 10 out of 10 rating?

An awesome place to stay. The place is a little dated but don’t judge the book by its cover. I would rather give up the amenities of the chain hotels for this establishment. Water is nice and hot. AC and heater is quiet and works excellent.

Loving restoration by owners ongoing. Our rooms and walk to see the sunset in canyon in their property was perfect!
