Check in was pleasant and easy. The street outside is a bit loud but the room itself is charming and clean. Overall nice spot to stay.

I think this place offers the best performance for the price. Even though it’s a hostel, I stayed alone in a double room. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly option, this is your best bet. Plus, the people have been friendly to me so far.

Super clean and easy to figure out. Very accommodating with luggage storage while exploring the city. Lots of things in walking distance for each meal and coffee

Just needed a bed and a bathroom for the night. Totally adequate for a simple stay. The host at the front counter was pleasant and helpful at check in

8/10 Very good

Stayed here for a couple nights vacation in Vancouver. Nice location in downtown, close to restaurants and shops. As a "hostel," the amenities are a bit spare, but it's a good value if all you really need is a place to sleep and store your belongings while exploring the city. One caution is that the entrance stairs are narrow and steep which can be a complication with your luggage or if you have mobility issues.

6/10 Good

The bunk beds and thin mattresses were a bit tough to sleep on but the building was very quiet and it is a hostel so i thought it was fine.

The property was very quiet and cozy. Walking distance to just about everything The service was incredible. The guy at the front desk helped with everything with a smile on his face. Definitely coming back.

Everything was fine at this simple, affordable hostel, the only thing, they need to clean more hallways and dust. They are well located in downtown. They have there, towels, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, liquid dish soap, cutlery, crockery, cups, glasses washing and dryer machine.

6/10 Good

The hostel benefits from a prime location close to downtown, making it convenient for guests who want quick access to shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions. However, the overall experience was let down by poor cleanliness. There was a persistent and unpleasant odor throughout the property, including in the rooms and common areas. This significantly impacted my comfort during the stay. While the location is excellent, I would hesitate to return unless improvements are made to address the smell and overall hygiene.

8/10 Very good

It's a really central location, bathrooms were clean and the room had a sink in it which was great! The only thing we didnt like was that the bottom bunkbed was broken and when they fixed it, the slats/base was put together wrong, which made the mattress/surface uneven, with a bar in the middlenof the bed and a dip on the other. We moved the bed and put the mattress on the floor for the second night and our sleep was great then

2/10 Poor

Although a cheap option for two female friends, it didn’t feel a great location. Unfortunately homeless people had taken up many of the alleys and our room was in direct sight. So it became extremely noisy at night till the early hours of the morning. Along with demolitions to the next door building,it became our less favourable hostel. The showers were in need of a daily clean and almost put you off using them. Stayed 3 days and not cleaned during that time. On a positive, staff where very friendly and helpful.

Great hostel!

St Clair is perfect for an urban hostel. I booked a private room with a queen bed for one night in April. The systems worked smoothly for check-in (door codes, wi-fi, etc.) and check out. The room was clean and neat, with a comfortable bed - more comfortable than I imagined! It matches what you're looking for in budget private room in a larger hostel. The place was overall very quiet and relaxed. I had a room facing the street and I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet the environment was. Yes, you can hear the street but it was not intrusive the night I was there. There was no noise from within the hotel. Surely, April is a down time compared to summer and holidays, but overall this place was calm and quiet. The bathroom stalls down the hall worked great and were clean. I did feel the shower's tiled floor could have been cleaner but again it's not a luxury hotel it's a hostel! Good water pressure and hot water! The sink in my room worked great.

I booked a queen size bedroom, which was the same as description and photo from the platform. It feels very vintage indeed, I felt welcome and comfortable during my stay. However, I think the main entrance should be fixed as it bangs so loud whenever someone in and out, which was very disturbing especially at late night and early morning. The other thing to be caution about is the wash basin in room, if someone next door use faucet for long time, your wash basin will fill up with water as well due to drainage problems. It happened to me one night and I need to stop next door from using the water for too long, I told Jake about this, hope they will fix this problem. Location is great, near two skytrain stations, as well as Gas Town. Very high accessibility to every attractions. However, every night at 9 or passed 9, there were always be a group of people partying hard (not sure it was homeless or drug addicts). They played music on speakers and scream sometimes, which I could not blame the hostel of course, but this is what you might concern about before booking for your stay. Overall, this hostel was not bad, but I might not stay there again.

4/10 Fair

15 minute walk to the water and the convention center. It’s a beautiful city if you can get it for under $100 a night that would be OK but due to it being during a convention it was very expensive. I did get my own sink, but had to share a toilet shower. Staff was very pleasant. I would stay there again for the right price.

It's good unique historic building, just south Gastown. With private rooms or for those to share a room amongst friends.
