Layover in Addis Ababa

We had 18 hours in Addis Ababa and the Bentark hotel was a good central location to join our Tastes of Ethiopia tour and also close to the airport. The rooftop bar was also nice with live jazz and a good view. We had some confusion over a “roof charge” from the bar, and the bar manager came knocking on our door in the middle of the night, but otherwise the staff weee all great, airport transfers were very smooth and the room was clean.

This was the best bang for my buck. zi wish I had discovered them when I first arrived to Addis Ababa. Everything was impeccable from the rooftop lounge to the free gourmet style buffet. The staff also amazing.

The guy downstairs was nice and helped with our luggage, front desk was nice, the young guy waiter in tge breakfast area was very nice and helped with the omlets, tthe guys on the 9th floor in the lounge was great too everyone was very nice and attentive EXCEPT the girl waitress in the breakfast area; she was not friendly or helpful, she was rude but I would not let that stop you from booking at Bentmark when travelling internationally.

The Bentark Hotel surpassed my expectations in every way. From the prompt replies to my emails, to the seamless shuttle pickup at the Addis airport in the dead of night, to the extremely courteous and efficient treatment at check-in, I could not have been happier with the staff and the service I received. But it was my room (Room 405) that completely took me by surprise. Without exaggeration, it was the most perfect, most delightful hotel room I have stayed in recently. To start, the space itself was generously proportioned, with high ceilings and with a light, airy and modern feel. Light wood floors and furniture were offset by soft, plush white linens and the room had every convenience (refrigerator, charging ports, generously sized built-in closets) that a traveler needs. One delightful surprise was a floor to ceiling sliding glass door that led to a private balcony. The bathroom, like the room itself, was large, clean and modern with a glass-enclosed shower and a large, square ‘rain forest’ type of showerhead. (Some of the holes in the showerhead seemed somewhat clogged so if management is reading this review, please replace the showerhead as soon as possible). Breakfast on the first floor seemed more than adequate with a whole assortment of juices, baked goods, a manned station where eggs can be ordered according to one’s preferences, etc. As with all the staff I encountered at Bentark, the service at breakfast was impeccable. Fantastic hotel!
