As of July 2025 the private onsen are BRAND NEW, the staff told me they just redid them . Do not different than the photos online, but still extremely comfortable. This place is excellent, the staff was very friendly and the room was spacious and so quiet. Very good value

Lovely place, but be prepared

Great staff and very nice place overall, especially the onsen was great. But the food was bad. And there’s nowhere else to eat at this location after 16.00 afaik. If you go here, bring your own food. You’re better off with 7-eleven snacks than with the overpriced tiny TV meals that the “restaurant” offers. Also the room had no working ac. Temperature was fine but humidity was 100. Pricing was not that transparent either, our +1 additional guest cost us more than the room itself but hotels app couldn’t tell to us. So it would’ve been cheaper for us to get two rooms than accommodate whole group in same room. Don’t get me wrong, the staff and place is lovely and exactly what the images tell, but be prepared with your own catering.

This is a traditional ryoken located in a tucked away area. We took a taxi to get there because it was raining but were able to leave by bus. The private onsen was lovely, big and beautifully built. We slept really well in the comfortable tatami room and futon bed.

Great staff: we reached very late at night. The manager was kind enough to extend our onsen reservation for half hour without us asking. He stayed well past the midnight to make sure our onsen experience is complete! We are so grateful to him. We had an amazing stay here! The staff was so helpful and accommodating for any of our needs or questions. They do have a limited food menu at the hotel but it was absolutely delicious! We ate on site both nights. The private onsen was fabulous and we were able to use twice daily. The floor mats were incredibly comfortable and we slept better here than most of the big hotels we stayed at in Tokyo. It took a little planning getting here via public transit but very much doable to get from here to Hakone and onward not having a private vehicle. This was our favorite stay in Japan.

Our stay was great, it was a beautiful and quiet place. The Onsen itself was perfect. I think the only downside was the food was just ok. We were expecting more food options in the area, but when we realized there wasn’t anything close by, we ate at the hotel, and the food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. The breakfast was decent and they give you a lot of food. The dinner though, I’m pretty sure the pizza I had was microwaved. The staff were great and were very nice. We will probably stay here again in the future.

For anyone that is looking for a traditional Ryokan, this place is amazing and exactly what you are looking for. Great facilities, private Onsen for your party, bath (or shower) is traditional as well (just a heads up). Have nothing bad to say about YuYu Hakone, but a heads up for any future travelers, this is a very quiet area and all things close fairly early in the afternoon and as you are at minimum 30 minutes away from near by cities (Odawara or Gotemba) with little to no ways of transportation, it is pretty dead for any adventuring past the afternoon. But for the overall stay, great place, clean, and staff are very friendly and accomodating!
