Very friendly staff, room was very nice with a sea view and two big comfortable chairs to sit on looking out to sea watching the car ferry’s coming and going.

Overnight stay

Stayed here for one night. Room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. It is a little dated but it all adds to the character. Would stay here again . 👍Proximity to the ferry was 30 seconds which was great

Weekend break

Great wee weekend in Dunoon stayed in various hotels there but this was a surprise package, looking at the building might give the wrong impression of it. Beautiful old building which maintains a lot of its periodic charm and features but our room was very modern, spacious, clean and comfortable. Dillon and his partner were very welcoming and fully hands on at any request and with pup Willow on hand for cuteness made a great team to relate with even if her teeth are like needles, thats the pup not his partner :-) . Will definetly look for this hotel first the next time we go back to Dunoon.

Great room

I really like this hotel. If you like old style architecture like me this is great. We stayed in the arran room where the view was amazing looking down on the ferry terminal. The room was spacious and comfortable.

Lovely staff

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was fine for what we needed. We had dogs with us. We had dinner in the bar, it was ok. But we decided not to stay for breakfast. Great for getting the ferry. The hotel is old and needs a lot of money to spend on it but the owners are trying. We would stay again as it’s affordable and very friendly.

It was ok. It was very basic. Beds were comfortable and the hotel is nice and quiet and in a beautiful spot. Service was very poor, we didn’t come across a single member of staff over the 2 days we stayed, including check in and out. We had no hot water during our stay through either tap or shower, but no staff available to help. One of our windows was broken so couldn’t get it open during 30 degree heat. No batteries in the TV remote. I could cope with these issues if room was a cheaper price.

JUST READ SPEAKS FOR ITSELF

The hotel was class , looked dated , which i like , but the rooms were like wow , wouldn't expect going into a hotel which on the outside , and in the halls were like walking into the late 19th century the i went into a room a basic btw , and a beautiful mural of david bowie and just transformed it into modern, was such a wow factor , the staff were like family , we went to the pub about 3 mile away , and the boss was there , talking away as if we were family, ive never felt so like home but while away , i only came on here to book again and noticed it asked for a review, honestly , if you want the marriot or the hilton , (which lets be honest all loom the same) the you wont be happy , but if you want to walk into history and get to your room with a view , and the room transports you back , then this is it, i honestly loved this place that much i phoned up rough and asked for an extra night , the town is so welcoming , the taxi driver was class , the kebab shop was class , everyone was happy , and trust me i tried to annoy people , they just go with it , an amazing place and an amazing bunch of people xxx

Enjoyable stay

We arrived to no electric at the hotel due to storm Bert. Fortunately the electric wasn’t off for long, and we were shown to our newly refurbished room. It was nicely decorated, with a large bathroom and shower cubicle. The bed was comfortable and the room warm and it was quiet. The only downside was I paid for a sea view room but did not get this. I got a room overlooking an over grown garden.

James, 3-night trip

2/10 Poor

It is clearly their out of season time as reception closed the whole time we were there and various works going on. Room clean but all other areas were not. Very disappointed with the price paid.
Fiona, 3-night trip

Really friendly, helpful staff. The hotel was right across the road from the car ferry to Gourock, which was the reason we chose it. An old-fashioned, impressive building - but be aware that there is no lift to the upper floors. We had a nice seaview room, and the beds were comfy. Check-in/out was easy too.

The water stopped working on the final night, although it apparently got fixed. I woke up this morning to it not working at all. Was unable to have a shower. When checking out I tried to let the staff know but I waited for 20 minutes at the desk rang the bell multiple times and no one came. So I had to just leave the key and and was not given an opportunity to make them aware and request a partial refund.
