Lovely hotel, room was luxurious and well equipped. Friendly staff and all areas of the hotel were clean and nicely decorated and maintained. Only gripe was breakfast - we were told breakfast was included only to find out that you had to pay extra for cooked breakfast. The poor communication during breakfast made us feel that we had to keep asking for things rather than have everything explained on arrival. The waitress was polite but some menu guidance would have been appreciated instead we were left guessing which made breakfast quite an awkward experience!

Very good location to the area we need to be for a family wedding. Extremely accommodating in getting room ready early for us to change in as travelled 2.5 hrs to get there. Friendly staff and very obliging

We had a one night stay on a Sunday so could not sample the evening dining. Our room was very quiet, comfortable and quite luxurious. We had breakfast in the dining room which was very beautiful. The continental breakfast was excellent. We would stay again.

Early in freezing cold January 2023, my wife and I were the only guests in The Lord Bute which also had staffing problems due to illness, The two who cooked and served our breakfast were brilliant; the room was not serviced but that did not present any problem to us.

4/10 Poor

Good: Attending wedding at Highcliffe Castle and this hotel is literally five minute walk … the breakfast staff were very polite. Poor: safe not working, no toiletries, Electric sockets unsafe, and parking is pot luck ( we were lucky). Service at breakfast very slow and kept forgetting our simple orders … cause: only one member of staff both mornings and so extremely busy.

Wonderful stay

Just returned from a great 3 night stay in this gem of a hotel. Perfect location within easy walking distance of Highcliffe Castle and Avon beach. Staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful in particular Ryan, the Operations Manager. We didn't eat any evening meals here but the breakfst was delicious and well presented with fine-dining crockery and cutlery. Our room was very large with a huge bed and a big light ensuite bathroom. The mattress was a little soft for our liking (just our personal preference) but we mentioned it to hotel staff and were immediately offered an alternative room - excellent customer service. We shall definitely return - worth paying a little more for such a great hotel

The hotel had a lovely homely feel to it. The staff are friendly and helpful. But unfortunately we didn’t have a very comfortable nights sleep, in fact we didn’t get a lot of sleep!! As the mattress on the bed had springs in that you could feel. It also didn’t help that it was two single mattress put together. Such a shame, the mattress is letting the hotel down.

Unfortunately we only stayed fir 1 night ... but will definitely return .The hotel is superb ... outside .... inside ... decor .very tasteful and is spotless . The breakfast plentiful and perfect. Our bedroom was lovely ... it was large ... well decorated ... clean ....and the en suite bathroom ... large and clean. And the staff .... what lovely people ... a special thank you to the receptionist ... "shona" .... thank you for all your help !!! We can not recommend the lord bute highly enough !!!

Staff very friendly and helpful. Property dated and in need of an update here and there - eg tap on sink swivelled round when turning on and off, head board on bed wonky, lots of dust in room, and hairs on the pillows.
karen, 1-night trip

6/10 Okay

The best thing about the Lord Bute is its staff; they are warm, personable , friendly -really nice people - but sadly not always efficient and on the ball ! They cleaned the room, but forgot to leave towels; so we came back late to a bathroom with no towels and no staff at that time of night to find some for us - we had to phone an emergency number to sort it out. Breakfast waiter, - one of them - head in the clouds forgot the butter, forgot the toast. Didn't check if we had all we needed. (needs more training ) No fruit juice, no bowls of fruit, no fruit yoghourt. Bed was comfortable and warm. Despite the lack of precision and sloppiness in the way it's run I would use it again .
