The room was clean and a good size, breakfast options didn't offer many choices and the cooked breakfast came with turkey bacon instead of normal bacon was still nice if on the small side

The location was easy to find and access and the staff were welcoming, friendly and warm. The rooms were better than some 4 star hotels we stayed in with proper full size wardrobes, abundant double sockets and sound proofing from the outside world.

Good cheerful professional service from Saed. Room 5 twin room and bathroom were spacious, clean, warm - cotton sheets, bathroom cosmetics - powerful shower and good hospitality tray.

This is a stopover B&B on the side of a busy road. It's next to an Indian restaurant, whose staff are very friendly and who also act as reception to the B&B rooms and where you go to have breakfast. The room was clean and quiet enough and the bed adequately comfortable. The Indian meal we had in the restaurant was good and the breakfast (choice of cooked breakfast or toast) was fine, although cereal and fruit would have been nice.

Nearly Perfect

Thoroughly Enjoyed our stay at Hawk House nearly All was Perfect. Towels supplied were freshly laundered but sadly thread bare so need updating. Should have been a 10/10

Location adjacent busy road meant there was a lot of traffic noise. However the room had everything I needed. A bit dated, so could do with a refresh in parts, but still comfortable.
Isobel, 3-night trip

2/10 Poor

The room was dirty, the heating didn't work so it was very cold, we couldn't get blankets, staff were really unhelpful/rude. Really one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. We were on our way to Cornwall for a holiday, and it really was the worst possible start. The only good thing is it's proximity to the road.

Room was changed on the day,and breakfast was cancelled due to chef unavailability. And there were no towels in the bathroom.

Very quick to assist when requiring assistance when we needed the heating on and another cup. Found the traffic noisy as the double glazing did not keep the noise out very well

Robert

Unlike any b&b we have stayed at before and the outside staircase to our room was a bit unnerving for us older folks. The rooms were clean and tidy and the shower was simple to operate. We had breakfast in the separate attached Indian restaurant which was beautifully laid out with linen taken clothes. We even had table service which was a welcome change from the modern trend of all buffet service and breakfast was served order. Excellent. The only problem we had was in finding it due to the building of the new A303 by pass, the road layout by the bandb being most confusing.

dissapointing

Place is tired, with bedsided cabinet falling apart, mould in the shower, shower fan not working. We could not get breakfast before 8.30am despite it saying in the information folder that breakfast was from 8.00am. No cereal available for breakfast

Disappointing stay

On arrival the room was freezing cold as there had been no heating on. Took best part of 2 hours for it to finally warm up. The bathroom heater didn’t work at all so wasn’t pleasant getting in and out of the shower. Went out for the evening to came back to a rapidly cooling room and in the morning it was freezing as they had turned the heating off again. (Beginning of December). The bin hadn’t been emptied and the WiFi and tv didn’t work.

Decent comfortable hotel at a decent price

Easy to find, plenty of space for parking with big gaps between the cars (unlike most hotels!), Bistro till 2.30, Indian Restaurant from 5.30 so easy eating. Excellent breakfast, although we only tried the cooked breakfast. Our room was large enough and had plenty of space for storage, plenty of electrical sockets, opening windows and blackout curtains. The room was bright but some of the furniture was a bit worn. The room and bathroom were spotless, if a bit dated. The only let down, and it only applied on our first night, was that the heating is on a timer and only comes on at a certain time - if you are cold before then its not available??? We stayed 3 nights, ate at the excellent Indian Restaurant and also enjoyed sitting out at the picnic benches in the rear, watching the sun go down. As a stopover or a place to stay a while and visit the Fleet Air Arm Museum (1 mile), the Haynes Motor Museum (3 miles) or even the East Somerset Railway 18 miles away, its ideal

4/10 Fair

Checked in late as it said 24hr. Restaurant next door had the keys. Then left to let ourselves in. Rooms smelled of bleach and damp. Beds were super cheap and felt like lying on the bare springs. TV remotes were bigger than the screen and needed a PhD in electronic engineering to figure out how to work the remotes including having to swap batteries from one to the other. In the morning we were apprehensive but hungry for breakfast which is advertised as inclusive of the room rate, only to be greeted with a sign saying the bistro is temporarily closed. How convenient. Would have gone to the premier inn a mile up the road if we'd known the inclusive breakfast was just bait. Entirely unmanned and devoid of charm. 4 stars must be referring to the breakfast we didn't get.
