Þingholt by Center Hotels was a very comfortable hotel. Our room was a little bit tight, but the bed was very comfortable, our bathroom actually had a tub/shower combo which prevented the wet floors we had in some other hotels on our trip, and they provided a fan to keep the room a little cooler. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was good, and we took advantage of happy hour with some lower priced drinks (which comes in handy in Iceland 😉)

Worked great for us

We liked this hotel and it fit our needs very well. We spent two non-adjacent nights here, our first day in Reykjavik and our last. The hotel was conveniently located for us, close for walking to Reykjavik attractions and shopping. The staff was courteous and attentive to our needs, helping us by storing our luggage while we were gone for 3 days in-between our stays, on a minibus tour of the south side of Iceland.

Perfect location! Polite and helpful staff. Great breakfast and happy hour. Nice relaxing hot thermal tub. Overall, very pleased with our stay here. The room had some areas that need improved (multiple areas with paint chipping, a window lock semi broke) but was spacious and nice to stay in for a while. Few issues with tv, internet and phone first night due to winds, but the staff handled it quickly the following day.

Moved to a great room

Our first night was on the 4th floor in a room with sloped ceilings where we bumped our head. The room was hot with only a tiny window. Also, the bathroom was very small. We requested a new room and got one on the reception floor that was much better. It was cool with a large door we could open to an outdoor private patio and the bathroom was larger and much more user friendly. The breakfast was good with lots of variety. So we had 2 nice nights in the second room.

Modern and comfy

We stayed for one night. The room was pleasantly large, clean and modern. Really comfy bed. There was no view and the windows were facing the inner yard/roof/nearby residential buildings. Overall we were happy, but one slightly dissapointing thing: we had to leave very early at 4 am and the previous evening I inquired whether the early breakfast started 3:30 am and if I needed to book it. I was told that was the case and no booking was required. When we got to the lobby at 3:45 am they were still setting things up. Obviously this was a minor thing but I would have liked to have at least a coffee before we got going. Anyway, all in all the room was good and location really great.
