Amazing location, undergoing renovations.

The location of Hotel Zum Ritter was amazing, the very best in old town Heidelberg!! The price was also good so we were able to look past the shortcomings because it was undergoing renovations and was still not 100% in their accommodations. Staff was minimal but the staff who were there were great. Room could have been cleaner and better prepared for our arrival (hair on the bathroom floor and an empty tissue box). Overall, a very good experience for us though!

Very nice hotel in the best location of the city. You are at the doorstep of the old town you really can’t get a better location. Even though it’s in the heart of the old town, it’s very quiet in the rooms, which were also nice. Bed was comfortable and the accommodation were great. Sam, who checked me in was so friendly and inviting, he made our stay very pleasant

the hotel gas newly reopened. Minor small problems were solved by the excellent and overwhelmingly friendly personnel.

This hotel is old but well kept . It’s clean and staff is very friendly. It’s a historic building. Only thing I didn’t like was that you get one key for your room and the only way to lock the room from outside and inside is with the key .

Beautiful building and great location. Friendly and professional staff. The lack of air conditioning and wifi were annoying but that was my fault for not checking in advance.

This is a lovely place and location cannot be better. You can walk everywhere. It's just opposite the main cathedral. Staff is friendly and really helpful. Sam at the reception is very approachable and helpful. I had a great stay. Highly recommend

475-year-old building, beautifully renovated and kept up. Very friendly and helpful staff. Fabulous location, smack in the middle of old Heidelberg, right next to the Holy Ghost Church. On Sunday at 9:00, as it is summer and we had kept the windows open, we woke up to the sound of the church organ starting mass service. It was a first for both of us.

6/10 Good

The place has a lot of character and charm. It’s a great location right on the Main Street. Plenty of shopping and food near by. The markets are right there too and that makes it inviting. What I had a problem with was the maintenance of the rooms. The bathroom was clean but needs some safety bars in the shower. The tub is high and when you shower water gets on the floor. There is only one shower door so it doesn’t contain the water so it all goes on the floor. The window in the bathroom does not open correctly and it needs a new towel rack for the hand towel. I did ask for extra pillows at the desk and had to repeat my request a few hours later when it was not done. One disturbing thing was when my wife and I were taking a late afternoon nap a staff member entered our room without knocking. They opened the door and I assume when they saw us they closed the door. I heard the door open and looked just as they closed it. When I got up no one was there. I don’t think I would stay here again. It’s a good price and it’s ok but it needs so worth it.

Front desk staff very friendly. It’s an old hotel but that’s part of the charm. Like most places in Germany there is no air conditioning in the individual rooms (so don’t complain - this is common here) but the man at the front desk offered me a fan as I was staying on the top floor room. It was 33 degrees last weekend so it was very hot but the view from my window was amazing and it was conveniently close to the hiking path I travelled there for. Comfortable bed. Will definitely stay again :)

4/10 Fair

Pros: charming historic building, room was comfortable; good breakfast. Cons: 3 bottles of liquid soap in room - 2 empty 1 with small amount which ran out the next day. No housekeeping on 2nd day. It took 4 ( four!) requests over several hours to get a bottle of soap handed to me. Towels were finally delivered at end of day ( used towels not removed). The desk clerk was very rude - he was apparently very put out that I was asking for basic items. There was no hairdryer in room and internet was very irregular.
