Arrival: hotel staff were extremely welcoming, professional & friendly. Car parking had plenty of spaces & easy access.
Room: disappointing to say the least, the bathroom was dirty (floor, sink & walls). The bath & shower had mould, cracked tiles & was not in good state of repair. The shower had weak water pressure & wasn’t very warm in the evening (on max temperature), this was slightly better in the morning. The worst part which summarised the cleanliness of the hotel was the towels in my room had brown stains on them… I’d booked a superior room with king bed, received a basic room with 2 beds pushed together. The carpet was sodden and coming apart at the edges. Mugs and glasses were stained and not washed properly.
Restaurant: Fine dining was advertised… the menu was average at best, the squid starter was overcooked, oily and very basic. The lamb shoulder main course was much better & resembled something slightly more fine dining. Waiters and serving staff again were excellent, very accommodating and quick with serving, albeit there was only myself in the restaurant for the most part.
Overall: the hotel is on stunning grounds & could be a real gem but unfortunately there is clearly a lack of investment. The whole place is unkept, unclean and falling apart. For a 1 night business stay i will go to a Premier Inn in future, which was the same price as my stay in Woughton House.
