The property was excellent and near the cable car ride to Hong Thom. The rooms were clean and nice and the pool was great and big. It’s also next to the beach so you have swim options. However the night market near by doesn’t give much option and neither is there much to do outside of the resort. The breakfast dining was food but lunch and dinner at the resort is actually quite bad. Meats were chewy and dinner option at the buffet was not much for the $900k dong that you pay. We tried the restaurant inside the resort called Lua and that was also pretty bad. The food was bland and not good.

Overall it’s ok but not the best

The staff were friendly and the food at the restaurants was generally good. However, the dinner dining options were too limited, which was disappointing, and although the villa had a kitchen, it required an extra fee to use it, so I didn’t understand the point of having one. Cleanliness was the biggest issue. The common areas, such as the living room floor, dining table, and sink area, didn’t feel properly cleaned, and it seemed as though the individual rooms and bathroom floors were hardly cleaned at all. The toilet wasn’t cleaned daily, and when the shower gel in the shower ran out, even though it was left on the floor, it wasn’t refilled for several days. The pool water quality also wasn’t very good. On top of that, the coffee pot was nasty, with white mold inside that looked like it had been there for weeks. Another challenge was that the staff spoke very little English, which made it difficult to communicate our needs. Overall, staying there wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t a very comfortable trip either.

LOVELY LOVELY LOVELY! The experience was so positive I want to visit Phu Quoc again before I had even left! You travel by buggy everywhere within the premises, and staff nicely arrange everything for you. This resort was exceptional. If you're debating between resorts, go with this one. Beautiful property: infinity pool overlooking the beach, private pools in the villa. There are many things you can do. They have bikes you can ride around the property with, kayaks to kayak around the water, volleyball to play on the beach, and more. It is a very clean property. The thing we love most about this resort was the customer service. They are beyond amazing and very accommodating. Highly highly recommend.

Likes: Spacious villas. Beautiful pool. Gorgeous landscaping. Dinning facilities/food were excellent. Cleanliness of resort. Excellent WiFi and TV channels. Friendliness of resort staff. Dislikes: At check-in, being told no outside food of any kind is allowed. Schedule times for pick-up/drop-off airport shuttle are not very convenient. Taxi from airport to resort is 300k. Resort charges 3x that rate (900k) for same service in private car. Some dinning room staff had limited English language skills making it difficult to communicate.

The management organization booking for the room , terrible, staff not training , we have book 2 villa in 2 month’s advance bit request to have the room next each other , but management did not take action . Other room I book for 5 night , but they change me different for 3 time , because they do not manage to keep the room at beach front . I do not recommending anyone stay here .

The first thing the resort did to ruin our holiday mood was checking us into a villa that still had guests staying there. It was a very awkward experience having other guests telling us to leave our allocated villa and seeing their personal belongings in the rooms. The second thing the resort did was getting our food orders wrong when they were non-standard from the menu. The restaurant staff seemed inexperienced in serving and helping guests. When they were asked to fix the order, it took them a very long time to do it. The last thing was getting our shower drains to work properly. We called a serviceman out but after looking at the drains for some time he couldnt fix it and claimed the design of the drains couldn't handle the volume of water that we used in our showers. We had to have dripping showers so as to not flood our shower rooms. The good things about the resort are the kids pool with water slides, my son absolutely loved it, the mega big adults pool and the white sand beach. For the costs of staying at this hotel, we felt it was not worth it given all the faults we experienced.

Beautiful resort

We had a fabulous stay at the New World Resort Phu Quoc. Pros: The beach is absolutely stunning and the villas are gorgeous. The breakfast buffet was incredible, we loved that it was slightly different every day. Happy hour is good value and generally all of the staff are eager to please. Cons: Food and drink prices are very expensive for Vietnam, almost on London levels which was a shock after travelling here from a 5 star hotel in Hoi An where spa/food/drinks prices were roughly half those here. Too many rules - e.g. bikes can’t be taken outside the property. Why not? At other hotels we stayed at on our trip they could be taken anywhere, where the roads were far less quiet! My husband got chased down the road by security. Likewise towels could not be taken further along the beach etc. There was no flexibility either, e.g. we had half an hour to kill before we could check in so our children wanted to use the giant pool flamingo for 30 mins, but the staff were adamant we had to pay for an hour and it was not possible to pay half for the time we actually wanted to use it. No outside food allowed to be taken into bills etc etc. These little niggles were quite irritating and don’t make for a relaxing holiday. However, we still loved the hotel and really enjoyed our stay.
