Nice hotel

Nice hotel, spacious room, nice bathroom, nice touch with the bottle of water and biscuits. Highly recommended.

6/10 Good

The staff and main building were excellent; however, I was in courtyard in an annex out of shot of lovely sales picture. It was an accessible needs room (I assume due to hotels.com booking) but no cheaper than direct booking. The tv was on a shelf at ceiling height so difficult to watch unless standing. The tap fell off but luckily slotted back on and worked with care. The room door was an internal stable type door so had no insulation or sound proofing meaning people accessing a storage room next door seemed to be in the room along with phone conversations. It was also slightly concerning to come back and find a Land Rover in court yard partially blocking room access followed later by listening to engine ticking over . In fairness for what I wanted the hotel served its purpose; however, for slightly more and an uber ride I could have got sound proofing from airfield plus a pool. It all boiled down to a taxit and convenience

10/10 Exceptional

Was a lovely old style hotel, the staff were very helpful and nice to chat with. Easy location to Donnington Race track, and walkable to pubs in the village.

Ticked all the boxes for download 😊

Nice location, staff were friendly. Hotel is tired and the stairs could do with re gripping as a slight hazard (lots of old winding stairs to get to your room) bathroom light didn’t work, reported but not replaced. Bed was ok, pillows a little flat. However, I could be over critical here as it was grand for us for our stay. Didn’t eat, so cannot comment on food, however the chef was out the front doing a bbq style cook out which looked great. Very close if you have download tickets and there was a free shuttle bus to donnington park right outside the hotel.
I love a bath when away- we only have showers at home 🥰

It is very refreshing to stay in an older, traditional hotel where nothing is too much trouble for the staff.

It's good value for money. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was large, not very warm until we ut electric fire on. No heat on towel rail though. Hotel and some furnishings a bit tired. Needs tlc I think

8/10 Very good

The people were friendly, the food was very good, plenty of free parking. The hotel itself was fine, although our room in the courtyard was rather tired and could do with a makeover and it was impossible to get WiFi in that room. Very conveniently situated for Donington Park race circuit.

Convenient location and lovely staff

The hotel is perfect for a stay if you are going to the Race Circuit. The staff are really pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was fab and at only £10 each a real bargain. There was a nice little bar with a good selection available. This is an old Manor House, with creaky floors and lots of original detail. We were there 3 nights and feel it offered everything we needed. It’s not the Ritz, but the price reflects that. Right in the centre of Castle Donington-plenty of private parking. Will stay again next year.

TLC required

Enjoyed my stay Hotel has a certain character about it should we say, rooms comfortable and very spacious they are a little tired though really crying out for a good clean and decorate. The satins on the carpet around the toilet just are not right. The staff were brilliant and told us the intention is to redecorate and give the place some TLC. Do this and you would get 5 stars from me.

Desperately needs a refurb

Room looked like it was last refurbished in the 70s. Smelled of damp. Very old toilet flush would get stuck. No wifi reception. On a positive side I arrived very late and the night receptionist was friendly and helpful.
Jonathan, 1-night trip

Fantastic staff, very welcoming and friendly but the hotel wasn't as we expected. Needs to be drastically updated. Poorly laid out room so when you opened the door for the bathroom you caught the door on a bed side cabinet which had a hole in it that needed to be repaired. Poor hairdryer, why can't hotels provide decent one's. Room smelt damp and needed to be well aired.

Tired and needs better management

On arrival my room had no bedding. I was then moved to another room with no bedding as well. The third room I was given had bedding but the heating did not work. The duvet covers fit the bed correctly but the duvet inside is not the correct size leaving lots of loose material with no duvet inside, which doesnt help when the heating does not work. The room does not have a secondary method of securely locking the door from the inside. Other than this the staff were understanding and helpful.

OK but ...

Booked a standard King with ensuite, but was given a converted meeting room. Double bed was old and lumpy, pillow flat and lumpy. No ensuite, no dressing table, no wardrobes or chest of drawers - 2 clothes rails with 3 hangers - 1 bedside table. No curtains and the blinds at the front were defective. Very little effort has been made to make the meeting room actually feel like a bedroom. Kitchen extractor fan very noisy. On the plus side, we had access to the courtyard for the dogs, the manager and maintenance man were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good.

Do not recommend! Unclean room, felt unsafe

Donington Manor Hotel could do with modernisation and renovation work. It is a quirky place with character. Parking + check-in were fine. Went to dinner across from the hotel at Castle Inn which was lovely. Was booked into room 11 (twin) and my room was not clean at all - not talking about a little dust. There were many cobwebs, spent about 10 minutes removing spiders in the main room and the bathroom. Bathtub had black bits in it, 1st bed had markings on the bedding, 2nd bed had markings in the bed. Bedside drawer handle was broken. Even with the instructions to lock the door, I couldn't tell from the inside whether the door was locked. I was travelling solo so made me feel unsafe and uneasy. Charging points nowhere near the bed/accessible, even with a long charging cable. I spoke with staff at reception to ask for my money back as I wished to leave the hotel due to these conditions, they offered to show me other rooms first. First few were just as unclean as my room and the next couple were OK but didn't have any charging points near the bed so wasn't suitable for me. The last room they showed me did have charging points by the bedside and was, for the most part, clean enough that I felt like I could sleep there - there were still bits around the room that had built up dust but the room was a lot cleaner than my initial room and had a much better locking mechanism on the door. I agreed to move to that room but I will not be returning. I do NOT recommend!
