Good choice for an inexpensive hotel in Lyon. Good location. Simple clean and tidy rooms, courteous staff. No fridge in room and the bathroom while clean and tidy was 1970s vintage with shower in bath. You get what you pay for and I would recommend. Family rooms also a good option.

Very charming hotel, with a nod to the classic hospitality of Italy in the 50’s and 60’s. Get the fountain view for sure, and have breakfast upstairs on the terrace. The staff was great, helpful and informative.

The hotel is a modest three star hotel and, at least in the case of my room, has small rooms. However the room was compact and designed to make maximum use of the available space. Everything was immaculate and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is modest but tasteful. In short it offers excellent value for a hotel of this level.

Overall the Hotel du Simplon is charming, comfortable and quiet. However, it was missing a few of the little touches that one usually expects with a hotel - coffee & tea in the rooms, ditto for glasses, tissues etc. I'd stay again, but I'd probably look at other options first.

It was comfortable, older style with some internal upgrades. Unfortunately we needed parking and the price was increased to 35 euros per night (about $56 Australian), which is a lot, so we saved a bit by skipping the 16 euro per person breakfast and ate elsewhere for a lot less.
