Great night's sleep
We stayed here for one night, arriving the day we flew in to Edinburgh. Parking was very easy and secure. We were on the first floor and it was still one of the quietest places I have ever stayed. We slept soundly and got some much-needed rest after our travels. Shower was great, and we left refreshed and ready for a full day.

Old made new
A wonderful old historic building brought back to life and modernized. Has a host of health and spa amenities. Lovely hot and cold breakfast buffet at a very good price. Ask about the still used observatory — we were allowed to go up and tour it. This hotel gets you most of the way up the hill to Stirling Castle. Lots of great dinner options further down the hill. And much more to see on your way to the castle. A perfect spot for a weekend getaway!

Old building with comfortable rooms
The hotel is old, so it has a unique floor plan which made it kind of fun. The breakfast buffet had many options from which to choose and was fairly standard. The bedroom had a decent amount of space with comfortable beds and a good sized bathroom.

Hotel was nice, however we didn’t find there was any ambiance to the dining room. It was very plain. No charm for a Scotland Hotel. Breakfast was very good. Dinner was good, however, there was a very large group in the dining room and not enough staff to service everyone. They did the best they could but it took 2 hours for pizza.

Perfect, except…..
Excellent location, easy access to train station. Great service, friendly and helpful
But the bed is soooo soft, makes your body hurt! Forget sleeping on the edge, you’ll roll over out of the bed! The pillow is bon existence as it is so soft like nothing in it.
It’s two mattresses put together to make it king bed, and either side is just so bad mattress.

Hilly but close the castle.
The hotel is up the steep hill from the train station, creating beautiful view, close to the castle and quiet at night. (Suggest taking a cab the short distance if anyone isn’t looking for exercise.)
Lots of stairs in this place so be prepared to carry your bags up and down a few.
Mediocre breakfast. Lots of good places nearby and strongly suggest the back pathway to get to the castle or town.
Not ideal for hot temps as getting good airflow is tough - as for a fan.

The perfect hotel in the perfect location
Our first trip to Stirling and The Stirling Highland Hotel was the perfect hotel for the trip. A beautiful building with friendly helpful staff located in the centre of Stirling. So we were able to park the car for two days and walk everywhere. The only time we drove was up to the Wallace Monument.
