An Amazing stay

Our stay was amazing from start to finish. The attention to detail was exceptional. Even to the point of providing gluten free biscuits in our room! The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was incredible. We honestly think this was the best hotel we have ever stayed in in the UK.

On our arrival Franco showed us a possible upgrade of our room which was value for money. Rob got us our lunch and couldn’t do enough to please. Phill is another asset to the company seating us to breakfast and showing us the Suites. Trisha was the the lady making the rooms and again really helpful, after this stay we will be back

Comfortable but not the Jane Austin Fantasy

Beautiful main house but most of the rooms are in the buildings annexes along with the breakfast so you really don’t spend time in the charming old part unless it’s for a wedding function. The grounds are beautiful to walk around and As a wedding venue it seemed great but for a ‘normal’ stay it’s a bit disappointing if you want the ‘Jane Austen’ film set from the inside!

Disappointing

The photos are deceiving, while the rooms and furniture are there, the hotel lacks any character: there is plenty of staff but no one to help, the "reception" is not always manned and no other staff can help; the orangery is an empty space with not one plant in sight, the hallway smells of harsh chemicals, the bar could have been a relaxing place, but we had to wait and bring out own drinks outside, and boxes and plastic trays were crowding the bar area. The breakfast waitress was trying to be nice enough, but forgetful and should be re-trained in how to speak to customers (I would have walked out if she had spoken to me as she did to another customer); again you walk into breakfast and the first thing you see are plastic crates. The nicer areas of the hotel are not utilised. In short, it could be a beautiful hotel and stay, but it needs an overhaul of management and redesign of the space.
