2/10 Poor

Had a full refund back as room was at the top of the building in the eaves mattress was stained and could feel the springs on the bed . No proper mattress protector only an old blanket the blinds in the bathroom and the bedroom were ripped and the carpet looked very worn the gentleman that doubt with my problem was very good and gave me a full refund. I then booked in to somewhere else for the night
Tracey, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

The staff are very friendly and helpful . The room was quite clean and spacious . I loved the little biscuit packets with the tea / coffee service in the room and the cute little soap bar . It is a very traditional and old fashioned hotel with lovely amenities and quaint paintings in the room .
Syed Iftikhar, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

Good central location in the heart of town. Only criticism no bar fridge in room. Otherwise it was an excelent stay
Kevin, 7-night trip

Good value budget hotel

Convenient location apart from being on a steep hill. However all the bus trips we made stopped at the top of the hill. Nicely decorated and comfortable bed. Ate evening meal on three occasions, which were all good quality and value, but menu limited. All in all, the stay was good value for a budget hotel
Brian, 5-night trip

4/10 Fair

Facilities not as advertised - no wifi in the room and generally very dated (inc. showers). Does get very noisy at night, but generally good location for the town and beach
Bethany, 3-night trip

6/10 Good

The location is very convenient to trains, buses, ferries, restaurants and shopping. The staff were great and my ploughman’s lunch from their restaurant was excellent. However, the room is very old. It needs a complete refurbishment. Too expensive for what it is.
David, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

I stayed in the Annexe part of the hotel (room 57). It was very quiet which is a major plus. The room was clean & the bed comfortable but the room was cold & the heater didn't work (the temperature had really dropped outside & it was cold). These were the only down points & otherwise the hotel was very good, friendly, helpful staff with a very comfortable lounge & bar area. All in all very good.
John, 2-night trip

8/10 Very good

A bit tired, but no real issues

I was staying for a long weekend. I only experienced the room as I didn't have any food there. Generally the accommodation was fine and functional, but various bits like carpets and some of the furniture and fittings were quite worn in places. My room was spacious and looked out onto Union Street. The good was a busy view, but the bad was that it was very noisy Friday and Saturday late into the night given that it has an open air bar next door. Rear facing rooms probably don't have this, and probably better mid week. It is very convenient for Ryde seafront, transport interchange and the shops.
Andrew, 2-night trip

6/10 Good

The staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly and went above & beyond normal service, and we thank particularly Jay & Grace for their help. Our rooms were on the top floor, which if you have mobility issues could be a problem. However, on check-in Jay helped us up to the second floor with our luggage and did his best to make it less of a struggle. I would say for anyone who is disabled, this hotel is not for you. The hotel doesn’t have a lift, but we found out, it’s a listed building (built in the early 1800’s), so renovations are limited. Overall the sea view rooms are comfortable and clean, but the decor is very tired and the bathrooms could benefit from some general maintenance. The cleaning staff were very friendly too, and accommodated our request for extra pillows - lovely ladies. We had breakfast on our first morning, but our experience wasn’t great. The waitress was quite curt and seemed not to want to be there. The food was lukewarm and seemed to have been cooked long before it was served to us. Due to this, we opted to go out for breakfast on our second morning. Overall, the hotel was convenient for the hovercraft, and whilst it was a trek up Union Street hill, we did find out that the number 9 bus goes from the port up to the library where you can alight, leaving a short walk downhill to the Yelf’s, which is a lot easier on the knees! Many thanks once again to the lovely staff at the hotel and I hope this review will be helpful to future travellers to the IOW
