There are 2 kinds of trips to NYC. You are coming for a deluxe vacay with spa treatments, shopping, musicals, etc. Then there are the stays where you just need a clean/safe place to sleep while you go explore the city. This La Quinta is perfect for the latter. I had one of the smallest rooms, but who cares? I literally used it for sleeping and bathing. The bathroom was spotless, great water pressure in the shower, comfortable bed and pillows, and it was 3 minutes from the main attraction for me, Central Park. The staff was very nice. I saw them yelled at by a number of people who apparently thought this was a more deluxe hotel. At $200 a night in this neighborhood, manage your expectations. The elevator is slow, the rooms aren't big, there isn't room service, but they have a friendly and helpful staff, the location is primo, and I felt safe as a solo female traveler. My only complaint was that the walls of the room and the doors looked like they needed a good scrubbing, but I would absolutely stay here again. Great location, great value.
