I wouldn't recommend the Hotel Key but I also wouldn't tell people to avoid it. The location in Flushing is great, and the price was fair given the circumstances, but the hotel/room condition was disappointing. Part of the lobby ceiling fell a foot away from me while I was checking in because of recent water damage. My car was bumped into because an angry guest couldn't find parking (the parking lot only fits 10 cars). A guest was blasting music at 1am to mask the sounds of love making and then a hotel employee was loudly talking on the phone with family while cleaning the same room at 4am. I highly suspect the hotel provides rooms by the hour for a certain clientele. I would not recommend the hotel for families, or anyone expecting a quiet, luxurious stay, but for a single guy or young couple looking for an affordable option to stay in NYC it's not bad. The staff was friendly, and did the best they could given the situation.
