The room was clean and spacious but air con would be a great addition. I stayed during a heat wave and while a fan was provided in the room, it was in terrible condition, filthy dirty and very noisy. When turned on the first time, it spewed big clumps of dust across the whole room including the bed.

Comfortable room and stay

Very comfortable stay. Room was quiet even though bar and restaurant are obviously popular. Amenities also included a hair dryer (which the listing didn't mention), magnifying mirror, tea/coffee and biscuits. Good internet signal. Would recommend.

Stopover at the Wellington Arms

I stayed casually overnight with my partner. We booked the night before, the service desk were accommodating and the hotel was easy to get to. The room was as described (very pleasant), clean with available utilities. No noise, excellent breakfast and the staff were superb!

Very good hotel, excellent restaurant.

I've stayed here a few times, and it is my first choice when working at AWE if the price is reasonable (it varies). Clean place, friendly people, easy parking, generally top notch all round. Plus, and it's a big one, the restaurant is great. Quality menu, that does vary, and is pretty uniformly excellent in my opinion. Modest portions, but OK for me. Very good wine list, so try something you might like. Breakfast is of the same high standard; fresh and cooked to order. Staff friendly and attentive, even to an old geezer like me.

Staff are great, hotel - no go

The nicest thing about this place is the staff. They were really good and friendly (bar 1 manager). I haven’t stayed here in 10 years and it’s the same now as then. The mould in the bathroom was awful, wish I had flip flops for the shower and the paint patch work was terrible. Manager on duty had no customer service at all. Definitely won’t return. I would add photos but I feel bad.

Gorgeous getaway

Wonderful few days away with my partner, staff were friendly and very helpful, especially the lady on reception (sorry I didn’t catch her name). Big comfy rooms, good selection of drinks and delicious food. Easy access to Nirvana spa and a firm favourite of ours, will return soon I’m!

Nicely appointed property, convenient for M3, bedrooms are nice, bathrooms lovely, but staff are exceptional. Were so accommodating with us after a very late night check-in, couldn’t have been more helpful.

Good hotel, nice food.

I have stayed here before and the food was good, so thought I would repeat. Room was well appointed, and slept reasonably well. Lots of attention to detain in room and bathroom. Food was good, some interesting choices. Wine selection is varied and I picked a great one. Breakfast cooked to order, although i didnt partake this time.

We stayed at the Wellington Arms for 2 nights during the school holidays. We had a family room and found it comfortable. Nice decor with a very large shower room. Breakfast option's were good and were cooked to order. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Beautiful country pub. Lady serving in the restaurant on Sunday night was lovely. Check in process was only thing that wasn’t perfect - had to call a number but on one answered even though we could hear them talking behind the door. Knocked on the door and they came out to help but did feel we weren’t important.

The duvet had a massive blood stain that you could clearly see through the cover , lazy housekeeping . The breakfast was ver poor and again the area around the coffee machine and unit it was placed on is absolutely filthy , it is not 1 or 2 days or dirt . Breakfast was okay but slow especially when only about 4 tables at breakfast , continental looks liked a left over boot sale, all a mess . Needs management to take a long hard look at these areas . Food was nice at the restaurant and waitress lovely .

Watch out for false advertising of the rooms. Having specifically booked the premium room for the bath tub we arrived to find no bath. Apparently it’s only in two of the premium rooms and not as advertised. The staff were not really apologetic and told me I had to call ahead to ask for a bath and as I hadn’t done this it was not possible to change rooms. The attitude was one of disinterest and not hospitality, especially from the management which is really disappointing. There was no offer of compensation for the misselling of the room, even the offer of a round of drinks would have been something but no. Would not recommend! Which is a shame as the food and the serving staff were really nice.

Friendly staff, okay room, bad food!

First off the staff were very polite and accommodating without exception. The room was also pretty nice and very clean and the large shower wet room was a nice addition. The issue with the room was that it was very hot though, with only a fan to cool it and only one very thick duvet on the bed, so sleep was pretty elusive! The real disappointment was the food though. I ordered a burger and chips, which at £16 I hoped would be pretty good, but the burger was overcooked and thin and the chips also overdone to the point of being dry and brown. As it came with no veg I ordered a tomato side salad and whilst the dressing was pleasant enough, the tomatoes were watery and more like budget supermarket stuff (on mentioning this to the waitress though the price was taken off the bill). As a glutton for punishment I ordered a chocolate tart for dessert. The chocolate itself was fine, but the base itself felt undercooked, again lacking flavour and gave the pudding a sense of being bought in or stored for too long possibly. Sadly one of the beers on tap also tasted like it had been stored for too long as well, or not at the correct temperature. For a bill of £112 for both of us this was a very disappointing meal. That said, the breakfast was pretty good and thankfully included.
