We had a room on the 8th floor overlooking the canal, golf course and mountain which was so much better than our last stay with a city view ( which has the sun on the balcony all afternoon and very hot). The staff were fantastic and the location was very handy to the beach and public transport.

Advantages are that you can cook and free parking. But the noise of music and partying late at night from Heyday right in front of the hotel sucks. There are plenty of homeless and smokers near the hotel.

Hotel was very clean and convenient place to stay in Waikiki. Very easy to walk everywhere and with free parking, having a rental car for excursions was no issue. Large rooms allow for different guest setups- like accommodating teenagers or families. We had a beautiful view of the canal from our balcony. We really liked being a block or two away from the crowded areas of Waikiki so we could enter it when we wanted rather than being on top of it at a beachfront hotel. This is a really great option for Waikiki!
