The room was comfortable and clean. The motel is classic 60/70's- drive up to the room . The owners have maintained the premises and tried to keep the nostalgia from the era.

My son and I stayed overnight on our way to the Outer Banks. Room is clean and bed is comfortable- room has a mini fridge and coffeemaker. Our room was #1 and closest to the street so there was some traffic noise but it didn't keep us awake. Property manager/owners were excellent with communication which is a plus since there wasn't anyone on site. Would definitely stay here again!

Awesome stay

The staff here was extremely organized and friendly. I had an issue with the toilet in my room and at 3:00 am helped me with this. They also assisted me in getting a unit with more room for us. Love this place.

Really friendly staff with clear and useful communication. They had good recommendations for restaurants and places to see. Super convenient location and a great price for a last minute, holiday weekend trip. They had bikes to borrow and water for us in the fridge after a hot hot day. This was a pretty no-frills room but had everything we needed and the staff is definitely going the extra mile to make sure you’re happy.

This is a very comfortable property in the main part of this small town. It seems that the owner made a recent and very considerable investment to update the rooms and the results are outstanding. The room was spotless and very comfortable. They have a contactless check in procedure and it worked flawlessly. Would recommend.

Well situated location w/responsive staff. However, it is an older property which needs extra care, reeks of weed, has zero amenities & frankly I suspect the owner is allowing it to go to seed. It could be a great property w/some TLC & added staff, likewise the check in @ 4 & checkout @ 10 are the worst I’ve seen

Absolutely loved my stay at the Inn and visiting the surrounding area/ beaches. Exactly what I needed. Very cute, safe, clean, and convenient. True to pictures. Owner super helpful, polite and responsive. Southport is a cozy, inviting and relaxing little waterfront town. Looking forward to staying here again. My only issue, the shower (and bathroom) is very small, hard to wash my hair, couldn't really shave my legs. But still got the job done.

Not many hotels in this area making this place somewhat of an unfortunate limited option. The rooms and grounds are dated and dirty, bathroom and shower were very small and moldy, and large carpenter ants everywhere outside of the room. That being said, check in was easy and staff was attentive and communicated well. Sadly, there just aren’t many other options in Southport so will probably be forced to stay here again during an annual business trip. The place is in need of a complete overhaul and update.

Cute and clean retro motel

The Inn at Southport is a great little motel well situated in historic downtown Southport. Shops, restaurants and waterfront are all within walking distance. The marina to catch a ferry to Bald Head Island was only a few short miles. The motel was exceptionally clean and smelled wonderful! The staff was extraordinary, checking in with us via text to see if we needed anything. It was such a personal touch you don't get with big hotels. Every night they had a mini "bon-file" going, which is perfect for roasting marshmallows! The traffic was a bit noisy at night, but we took an extra white noise maker which blocked out most of the traffic sounds. We would totally stay here again, and it's perfect for a short weekend stay or a longer visit if coming to one of the fun festivals! Nice visit and motel stay all the way around!

I was in Room #1. The bedroom was spacious, well-lit, clean, simply and tastefully decorated. TV worked well. The climate control was not very clear but the room was comfortable enough. I had a good sleep. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS ROOM OR THIS MOTEL FOR PEOPLE WITH MOBILITY ISSUES OR RELATED DISABILITIES. There is no front desk and I never saw any staff during my stay (@29 hours overnight). Communication is, apparently, entirely by text. if you don't have a smart phone you're out of luck. I phoned and Emailed from home a few days ahead of time and did get helpful responses, plus a handwritten welcome message when I arrived. On arrival I fortunately found a vacant parallel parking space in front of my room. However, I dared not move my car from the space because it's not reserved for my room, and parking seems to be at a premium. I saw no handicapped spaces indicated anywhere on the premises. In front of my room, there is a roughly 9-10" step up from the parking pavement to the walk in front of the room, and I had to reposition my car close enough that I could boost myself up to the walk. I saw no other steps, no ramp, no handrails anywhere. The bathroom is clean but tiny. (Photo misleads.) The toilet is in a recess about 24" wide. I could use it standing, but I was afraid to sit on it because there were no handgrips or other assistance for standing. Shower @ 24x30" -- I passed on using it. Not friendly for disabled people. My mistake. Won't repeat.
