"Super helpful staff and they speak English. The customer service was excellent with thorough explanations of the facilities, the meals and the van service to see the snow monkeys the next day (free van service)
Great meals (plenty of great food) and the baths were amazing (onsen). You can book the indoors baths twice in a day (heaven!) and I had a private onsen in my room as well. Even when the weather was super cold and rainy, I was able to enjoy and recover from my long trip. I was not...

"What a delightful place to stay! Cannot praise the staff enough! They were all so helpful, friendly and accomodating. Some English speaking staff, who were honestly the best we met in our two week stay in Japan. We were told that they don’t get many English-speaking visitors and we were the only ones there, which my teen son and I loved. We love immersing in the Japanese experience when visiting, and this hotel definitely offered this.
The rooms were simple but clean and tidy and well...

"The staff were very friendly and helpful making this a relaxed and comfortable stay. It is an old building but well kept. Not as fancy as some places down the road but extra charming. The public onsens were fun to try. Their shuttles are well organized and we had no trouble booking the times to private onsen and monkey park that we wanted. Excellent service and stay and would return and recommend to others. "

"The property and surrounding areas were beautiful covered in snow during our Winter visit. The hotel provided boots so we could easily get around in the snow. The man who was at the front desk during our stay was knowledgeable of the area and kind. We had two rooms and both were clean and comfortable throughout our stay. "

season, there is barely any restaurants opens. Hotel cafe food is a bit expensive, and not much choice (mainly western). If plan to stay may order half board instead, or tell hotel staff to reserve dinner before 10am"

"I would recommend Uotoshi Ryokan to anyone visiting Yudanaka. It is a lovely traditional Japanese inn with comfortable rooms and a relaxing hot spring bath. It is very conveniently located near Snow Monkey park, many restaurants, and the Yudanaka train station. The owners are kind and helpful, and even offer to drive you to Snow Monkey Park! We will stay here again if we come back to Yudanaka."

"Lovely Ryokan with both public and private hot tubs and traditional Japanese meals. Couldn't fault it even if I wanted to. Great experience in every way."

"Staff was super friendly. They took us to the ski
gear rental shop and back again to return the stuff. Their English was ok, enough to explain what buses to take, recommend pistes, etc. We even received a small gift when leaving. I recommend reserving the 3 meal course."

"We had a great experience although we did not take advantage of the dinner that looked awesome. Traveled as a family and really enjoyed everything about it. Onsen was hot! We were off season and would love to go back during winter. "

area. It’s within 5 minutes walking distance. This hotel is more geared to catering to Chinese visitors who want to hit the slopes. They play Chinese-theme music during breakfast at their buffet. Their breakfast is a big spread, and the food is pretty good. The people there do accommodate you, but they are somewhat cold. If you slip on their steps and fall because of the snow, they will not come out to help you or apologize. Come here to...
