Really good food with a diversity of Arabic, Indian (chutney, yogurt), and southeast Asian (coconut curry, coconut jasmine rice) flavours that is different from the stuff you'll get in the rest of Zanzibar. The Arabic architecture is also stunning.

Interesting to look at, you can see the splendor of earlier times. But there is still a lot to be done to preserve it.

A fabulous place to spend some time to get immersed in the Zanzibar urban culture. Beautiful, love watching the ships / ferries docking from the balcony of the Mercury Bar

Zanzibar relies on tourism. The people should be more sensitive to keeping it clean with no litter. I saw men on the beach (it's rare to see females that aren't foreigners enjoying the ocean there) toss litter. Some beaches are disgusting.

It's not Zanzabar town, it's Stone Town. Lots of Hawkers/buskers, but they are not those relentless kind that won't leave you alone. Just say no thank you a few times, and they get it.

Brilliant location, just watch out for very pushy local sellers, some of which do not understand "no"...

Great place to visit. The boat going to both island costs 80,000, you can get even cheaper like 75 or 70k for 2 people (private boat).
"I stayed at Zanzibar Palace Hotel from June 8 to June 10 and had an amazing experience. The hotel is full of character, with beautiful Zanzibari decor and a peaceful atmosphere. The staff were incredibly warm and helpful, the breakfast was delicious, and the location was perfect—close to all the sights, yet quiet at night. A true gem in Stone Town. Highly recommended!"
"We had a great stay in this historical building. The room (especially the sheets) were clean, the building was amazing (make sure to check out the view from the roof), we enjoyed the breakfast, and the staff were great (and available 24/7). A great place to stay in Stone Town."
