Cortez is well-known for its attractions such as Anna Maria Sound and Blue Water Explorers. The city has something for everyone including sights like H2O Watersportz and Florida Maritime Museum at Cortez within a small-town setting.

It was about this spot where a manatee popped its head up, right in front of my kayak and then proceeded to swim directly beneath my kayak in crystal clear shallow water. 

I opted to just totally engage myself in the experience instead of trying to photograph it.

We rented our kayaks from a place called Kayak Jack's. They were great! You pick a drop-off location and specify a time and your kayaks will be awaiting you, ready for launch!
